The Right Stuff

New Mayor I Will Never Lie to You . There is an old saying in Washington, D.C., "If you want a friend, get a dog."  A small town in Kentucky has taken that one further, electing dogs to their titular mayorality (see link above).  Certainly honest, it would be fun to see a lobbyist trying to bribe this political animal.  Hopefully, the mayor will not get caught humping a lobbyist's leg, a kennel-able offense.   Long ago, humans once worshiped animals.  Perhaps, we are on our way back.  The article did not mention the mayor's salary, but given the name of the town, Chicken Hash, table scraps may be enough. #electionentertainment

WELP!

Kanye Decrees Run This Town . Yes, there is still a presidential races continuing, but who cares?  Kanye has something to say.  Having received about 0.04% of the presidential election vote, he has decided to wait until 2024 to rule the world.  His concession speech was classic KW, "WELP," which is a weeping help. Both the Trump and Biden camps are relieved.  Not sure about Kim. Given the closeness of the current vote count, Kanye's 60,000 votes might have made a difference if all came from Nevada or Georgia, but no.  His biggest total, 10,000 was from a state that Trump easily won (see link above). #electionentertainment

Photo Refinishing

Storybook Ending Rewrite Lawyering Up . The voting is over, and it feels like election 2000, which made for great theater.  Both sides still have hope, and something has finally driven the pandemic off the front page.  Hollywood likes this type of closing.  However, unlike the past, Hollywood now leaves stories open-ended enough to have a sequel.  This election is doing the same. Part II the Recounts This election may hold the record for the number of lawyers hired to step-in and contest the results.  While many of these races are beyond the narrow margins for recount, expect the Republicans to sue anyway, based upon the way mail-in voting was handled.  Frankly, this will be boring at the state level but could be high drama if a successful appeal is made to the Supreme Court, which decided the 2000 election by stopping the recount in Florida.  If the Supreme Court decides this election, there could be fireworks and/or firebombings!  Both are...

America on Stage

Delivering the Vote . Even at the peak of political rhetoric, the candidates have been upstaged by the American voters, and their stories are prime time.  For example the one above is about a woman in labor who stops by her polling station to cast her vote on the way to the delivery room.  This may win the award for best way to cut into the front of the line, as the lines for early voting have been very long.   President Trump, win or lose, will be able to take credit for the HUGEST get-out-the-vote in American election history.  If the Democrats were as effective in aligning their base for their candidates as the Trumpublicans are at alienating Democrats against theirs, America might have a two-party system again. What will be truly entertaining - Biden wins the popular vote by over 10 million, Trump wins the Electoral College by one, the Democratically controlled House overrules the Electoral College, and the Supreme Court overrules the House.  If a...

Sign of the Times

Political Side Show . Bulldozing the Competition . In Florida, an enterprising young man decided he did not like the political signs in another yard and decided to remove them with a stolen bulldozer.  These posters were planted into the lawn with typical wire stands by hand.  Unfortunately, there is no video of the attempted uprooting.  The video in the above link documents the aftermath, which shows a largely unsuccessful attempt.  Therefore, the entertainment value is low. So, why even mention it?  Some events are seemingly bland until a later event creates the opportunity to look back and see them as harbingers.  Political news organizations spend a fortune on polls and other predictive indicators of future election results.  While many prognoses are 'scientific' and nebulously quantifiable, some are more like an omen or, in this case, foretoken.  Only time will tell. More on November 4th! #electionentertainment

Who's Your Daddy?

New Main Card - Trump vs Fauci New Opponent   .  Just when you thought the 'less than entertaining presidential election' was heading down a boring final stretch, The Donald comes up with a twist reminiscent of his  WWE wrestling days - when you cannot beat the guy in the ring, take on someone in the audience, preferably an older-than-Biden guy who cannot defend himself.  That man is Dr. Anthony Fauci, who sort of works for the POTUS. We are absolutely certain that The Donald will soundly defeat Dr. Fauci at the polls on November 3rd.  It will not even be close, and The Donald will be able to declare a HUGE victory, one even greater that Richard 'Tricky Dick' Nixon's landslide over Senator George McGovern.  HUGE! Of course, you are probably thinking that Joe Biden might out-poll both The Donald and the Doctor on November 3rd.  True, but does that really matter?  Joe is a good guy, but good guys finish last, right?  The Democrats were ...
