Even at the peak of political rhetoric, the candidates have been upstaged by the American voters, and their stories are prime time.  For example the one above is about a woman in labor who stops by her polling station to cast her vote on the way to the delivery room.  This may win the award for best way to cut into the front of the line, as the lines for early voting have been very long.  

President Trump, win or lose, will be able to take credit for the HUGEST get-out-the-vote in American election history.  If the Democrats were as effective in aligning their base for their candidates as the Trumpublicans are at alienating Democrats against theirs, America might have a two-party system again.

What will be truly entertaining - Biden wins the popular vote by over 10 million, Trump wins the Electoral College by one, the Democratically controlled House overrules the Electoral College, and the Supreme Court overrules the House.  If anyone thinks 2020 cannot end with that kind of shit show, review the 1824 election, which marked the dawn of the Republican and Democratic parties.  John Quincy Adams, son of President John Adams, won with presidency with 31% of the popular vote and 32% of the Electoral vote, much less than Andrew Jackson's 44% & 38%.  Two other candidates accounted for the remaining 25% & 30%.  All were of the same political party, the Democratic-Republican Party, which subsequently split.  The split was hardly amicable and eventually led to the Civil War, which the Republicans won.

  Unusual Suspects Americans face seemingly insurmountable problems and need someone to blame. We have mastered the world.   America is the most prosperous and powerful country on Earth, and we tend to take credit for that success.   However, we cannot do everything and some things we do have unintended side effects that we cannot control.   For example, we do not treat everyone equally.   While many things point to why, the greater truth is we have not figured out how to make that workable.   We have created a great deal but consumed a great deal to do so.   This has created problems such as pollution, which we have struggled for decades to ameliorate with minimal success.   We invest trillions in our military but cannot stop wars, and we provide others with weapons to fight.   We reached the top but now watch others climb past us.   We are the wealthiest country with the highest debt and have no plan to settle it....

Political Football

Alabama Plays the Trump Card to Defeat Georgia Candidate Trump wearing Georgia Red with Crimson Tide supporters The only thing more divisive than this year's election would probably be the Alabama/Georgia game.  While everybody in the stadium was probably as red as blood, the shades made all the difference.  Mr. Trump sat with the Alabama Tide because one of his Mar  Largo members offered an invite that probably included a campaign contribution.  His support was widely noticed in the Tuscaloosa stadium, much to the chagrin of the Georgia fans, who watched as the Tide kept the Bulldogs from reaching the winning goal in the final minutes while tolerating the constant chant 'Eat Them Dawgs' from Tide fans, who were referring to the rumors of Haitians eating neighbors' pets in  Springfield, Ohio, not the Bulldogs.  Mr. Trump got caught between high Tide and many potential Georgia voters.  It was more entertaining than the halftime show.

The 2024 Presidential Debacle

 A Unmemorably Senior Moment   Our choices The evening of June 27th marked a nadir of political dark humor.  The two oldest men to ever run for the presidency acted like very old men.  President Biden could not reliably string two sentences together, proving his senility, while former President Donald Trump raged on, saying anything he thought might get votes.  While Trump was more desperate than usual, Biden's mumbling took center stage.  It was mesmerizing, like watching a train wreck in slow motion.  The video (link above) marks a downward inflection point for the Democratic Party and the nation as a whole.  Sadly, there was nothing entertaining about it.
